Art in Action - Paul Antonio

Paul's stand is always worth a visit - if only for the theatre of it all. Paul has Presence and is immensely Entertaining, producing Pure Copperplate almost by sleight of hand. I think being about 6'6" or so helps!

Seriously though, here he is, casually drawing this amazing little bird in seconds, using a Leonardt EF Principle Copperplate nib - www.scribblers.co.uk

Leonardt EF Principal Nib
He spelt my name the exotic way, but it is fitting with the rest of his artwork!

Paul (www.paulantonioscribe.com) produces hand written stationery for many smart wedding events, but I was chatting to him recently and saw a different side. We know that his pen skills are exceptional, and lately he has been going back into antiquity and studying Rustics and early lettering alphabets in depth. We await his artworks (in their own right, as opposed to commissions).

June, July and August are the culmination of the artist's year in our neck of the woods. Firstly its Artweeks, when artists open their studio to the public for a couple of weeks, followed by Art in Action where 400 artists share their expertise in Oxfordshire (I'll be there next year again after a two-year break). This is a fabulous show with artists demonstrating by invitation only. After this there are all sorts of summer schools and festivals - and I begin teaching for five days at Oxford Summer school on Tuesday. It really is the Silly Season, Artistically Speaking.
