Theodorus' Wheel was a doddle to screen. One image on one screen. What a well thought out design!
(Even though I say it myself)
b.t.w. I did copious records and made a journal so that I would remember all the processes. The journal is called "The Silk Route" and is on exhibition as well.
Fibonacci needed 7 screenings. Altogether I started 6 banners - one had gold spilt, one "moved", on one the screen slipped, one was on my tea-syed Silco, and finally one lovely white one and one on honey coloured Dupion. If I had finished them all it would have been 42 screenings (and washing the screen...)
As you can see, it has to be done bit by bit.
You may remember I said I had a technical assistant. Well without Heather it could not have happened at all!
So finally I had two good banners one of each in white and one of each in an earthy colour.
Now for the Greatest Mathematicians! Remember the 2 meters of criss-cross lettering. I had designed it to go onto three screens BUT the repro house could only print it onto 12 X A3 pieces of sticky transparency which created its own little nightmare, trying to stick 4 bits together to make up each of the photographic screens.
I had designed it so that the joins were "wobbly" and would not be obvious once screened.
Fortunately by this time we had sorted out fabric and ink problems and the printing went smoothly.
Voila!
But actually, I do think this whole thing puts me on the lunatic fringe!
Goodness me, Lin. Have you only just worked out that you are on the lunatic fringe?! But that is the very best place to be.
