Oxford Summer School 2013 - 2

The other course that I'm offering at Oxford Summer School is
The Art of Adolf Bernd
Pearl de Chalain

Adolf Bernd created illuminated letters on a grand scale. He combined crisp modern letter forms with decorative elements from illuminated initials. Using white lines and water colours the outcome was a fresh, individualised result.
We will study his artwork and techniques and work out a way of producing something inspired by this great artist. This course will include working with watercolour, mixing subtle (or bright!) hues and creating small decorative capitals or one large one. We will include touches of gold! Participants will mainly need good quality watercolours and watercolour paper.
It will be similar to the course I gave in South Africa last year and here are Bev and Pearl's work at A3 size. We've done a couple of one day courses looking at Adolf Bernd's work at Oxford Scribes, but on the three day course we'll really be able to get "stuck into watercolour".
To find our more view the Oxford Summer School website. The course will run from 1st - 3rd August. The website is now open for bookings.
