Christmas Decorations

On Wednesday the 20th I'll be wishing you a Happy Christmas and taking a break until the 31st December, just in time to finish wrapping up the year and tying it in string.
Dave and I have turns in choosing The Tree so last year we had a nice big real Christmas tree. We festooned it with fairy lights and kept it outside from the 1st December until the 18th then brought it in and decorated it.  This year it's my turn and I quite like being funky, so here it is! The chillies are real but the oranges aren't. I guess I could have taken more trouble to decorate it really beautifully because I think the concept is good - but you know what? Life is too short!

And we have loads of candles - little red Swedish lanterns, tea lights, fairy lights, large paper Swedish stars and we are all set. For my Southern Hemisphere friends - enjoy your sunny Christmasses. In the North lights are so important in the middle of those long dark days. Equinox soon - hoorayyy.
Now something to think about - when I was an art teacher in a high school I noticed that over the long summer holidays my 16 year old students had a giant leap in their artistic ability / creativity. I knew that they had had a five week period of not picking up a pencil or paint brush and yet when they came in each year for the final year of school, a little miracle had happened. A few years later I noticed the same thing with my two children who did art as a high school subject. This is what I think happened. They had a rest and during that time their brains consolidated what they had learnt, while they were being exposed to new stimuli (holidays, holiday work, beach time) and they came back refreshed.
So when you have a rest, sometimes an enforced break, an operation or a move or whatever, don't worry about your creative output. It's still happening even if at that point in time it's invisible.
