Wild flowers 3 - Lords and Ladies

Arum Maculatum: The Common names are Lords and Ladies, Devils and Angels and Adam and Eve; the flower being the Lord and the berries being the Ladies. It is a woodland plant that is widely spread in Oxfordhsire.

This is the first completed painting on an A3 sheet of Fabriano Artistico (Not). I outlined it with Ecoline watercolour inks then painted it, controlling the bleeding by doing some quick mopping up. The first version was outlined in black waterproof ink and it seemed a bit sterile to me, so I tried brown Ecoline ink. In my trial it didn't bleed - or so I thought, until I looked at it later when it had done so rather sneakily. In other words it bleeds, but not profusely! But then I really liked the merging of the brown into the colour so I have decided to stay with this option.
Brown ink will probbaly be too brown for the white snowdrops and the wild garlic and I'll try dark green ink and brown ink on the stems before adding watercolour.

One down and eight to go! The card version will have lettering on it.
