Little India and Arab Steet

There are three interesting ethnic areas in Singapore – Arab Street for silks, China Town (Temple Street for tailors) and Little India for curries. Here is a colourful building from Little India.
I was trying to work out the "rules" or scheme for this colour arrangement
There are more tertiary colours than primary & secondary, but with a couple of pastel colours - green and lilac. The background on the upper floor is white and on the ground level each panel is different. All small divisible areas are painted in as many colours as possible – like the shutters and the overhang from the roof. Quite, quite masterly really!

And here are some of the silks from Arab Street.

  1. They bars of colour created by the folded silk fabrics must have been the inspiration for painting the buildings!
