The Singapore National Art Gallery is a beautiful spacious building flooded with light. There was only enough time to view the Turner Prize equivalent: Asia Pacific Breweries Foundation Signature Art Prize.
Sadly I didn't like the final choice which went to Papua New Guinea, (bit of a fusion between Rosseau and Gauguin) but there were some exciting artworks there.
I did my homework after the event (duh!) and this is what I learnt about Superman…
Currently on display until April 15th, 2012 at the Singapore Art Museum is a large sculpture of a melted Superman titled “No One Can Save Us Now.” Created by artists Eric Foenander and Mojoko. The piece is a comment on current global warming conditions and the un-optimistic view that there is little hope for the future.
He's gone now.
