This is the drawing for the final painting which I will outline in ink using a lightbox, then add colour. I need the final result to be a bit stylised as it will be more excitiing than realistic watercolour paintings.
This is quite a challengs as I have no idea at present how the final painting of the teasel head detail will look. It was impossible to reduce it to a line drawing while maintaining the accuracy without loads of detail, so I added tone. I think I'll start with outlining the areas, then use masking fluid for the white triangles and the tendril, then paint it. Thank goodness for masking fluid! You'll see the outcome in a few weeks.
The painting of the main drawing will show the different stages of the teasel head from flower to seed.
